Good News! We are pretty much potty trained. Hudson is only wearing a pull-up at night. He is able to use the toilet during the day both in-home and out-of-home.We clean him after doing #2 but other than that he is able to get himself to the toilet, get his pants down, and go. Huge milestone for all parents!!!
Hudson is getting much better about eating. He is eating more at each sitting and is being more open to experimenting with foods he's not used to. Mommy is trying to involve him in preparing the meal and deciding what we have for dinner to entice him to take part more fully.
He is getting better at dressing and undressing himself. He can pretty much do everything including socks except for putting on and taking off his shirt. He typically goes to bed btw 7-7:30 and wakes up btw 5:30-6:00am.He always comes into mommy/daddy's room (straight to mommy's side of the bed) and wants to watch cartoons or "eat cereal". We are having to use the OK to Wake clock so that he stays in his room "until the man turns green". We may need to think about a later bedtime so that he starts sleeping a little later.
We have recently been introduced to tantrums. Daddy is particularly lucky in experiencing these. They are knock down drag out full on meltdowns and NOT PRETTY. We are trying to catch these early on so they don't escalate to the point where it's unmanageable. We are working on getting Hudson to talk to us and assign words to his emotions to express himself.
He continues to love cars and his green blanket. He vasilates between loving and hating his brother depending on his mood. He is starting to get excited about Xmas and it's fun watching him anticipate a holiday he remembers.
All in all he seems to have a blend of stubbornness and sensitivity. He is very strong willed and opinionated and at the same time a look or sound can affect him strongly. He is a sweet boy and we love him so much!
3 years [32.2 lbs (60%) 37.5" (50%)]
Hudson is getting to be such a big boy. Especially compared to his little brother.
We have had 1 poo on the big toilet but none since then and that was about a month ago :( We were getting pretty consistent with pee-pee's on the toilet but have seen a regression as of late and now, once again he has to be prompted to go sit on the big toilet and will then only pee. No poo's!
He is starting to eat a little bit more especially breakfast. He loves cereal, cereal bars, oatmeal, eggs, bacon and bagels. We have had to get more strict about his dinner menu. We are forcing him to eat what we eat and if he doesn't he goes to bed w/o dinner. We have seen him start to try a few things he wouldn't otherwise try but we still have many nights where he refuses to eat at all.
He is getting better at pulling his pants and underwear on/off. He is also starting to separate from his blanket a little which is good since he can't have it at Rainbow (daycare). Evidently it was causing problems when other kids would go to grab it.
Hudson knows all the letters of the alphabet and can identify them when asked. He can count to 12 and sometimes 15. He knows all of his colors and is learning shapes. He is also able to spell his first and middle name.
It may be typical for 3 year old's but he has been extra challenging to parent lately. He has been aggressive and defiant and pushes our buttons. He has bratty moments often and is very affected by lack of sleep. His sweet and innocent moments seem few and far between.
His imagination is beginning to develop and we've noticed that several of his prized toys now have either personalities or genders. His blanket is a "she" for whatever reason.
We are celebrating his birthday in 2 days and daddy is making him a "Cars" cake with Lighting McQueen. He has several gifts from nana/papa and us and Chris will join us for dinner. I'm making one of Hudson's favorites, Mazythra. Daddy is making him a sandbox so we got him sandbox toys as well as some letter and number association cards. Gma & Gpa are getting him a swimming pool.
We look forward to seeing more and more of his personality evolve and hoping that we emerge from this "bratty" phase sooner rather than later. We are crossing our fingers that potty training is in our very near future as well.
